On July 22, George Washington Birthplace National Monument will host an encampment and firing demonstration by two elite reenactment groups: His Majesty’s Marines and the 5th Battalion, Cumberland County Militia.
The encampment will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and musket firing demonstrations will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
During the encampment visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of displays and activities common to 18th century camp life, reported chief of interpretation Scott Hill. Young visitors will be able to participate in a variety of activities like learning how to roll cartridges.
