The Northern Neck Family YMCA, 39 William B. Graham Court, Kilmarnock, will host a Summer Teen Yoga Course from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Thursdays July 20 through August 31.
“I discovered yoga when I was 16. The physical benefits were great but it was the concepts of acceptance, mind-body awareness and connectivity that kept me engaged,” said instructor Allyson Childress.
“The yoga practice opened up a whole new world to me, a depth of thought and perspective that I know has forever shaped my life,” she said.
Since then Allyson shared that personal yoga journey has taken her to Thailand, Kuwait, California and India, where she spent five months completing her 500 hour yoga teacher training in recognition with the Yoga Alliance. While in India, she trained in Ashtanga and Hatha styles of yoga, led workshops on creativity + yoga.
This six-week introductory course has progressive weekly themes significant and relatable to teens.
