DITCHLEY
Poultry farming among the ladies exclusively, so far, is becoming very popular. Mesdames T. D. Gough, W. A. Dize and W. B. Carter have purchased nice vators and brooders, and results from the wooden hens has been very satisfactory; from 230 egg incubator Mrs. W. B. Carter hatched 191 chicks. Crows and hawks are taking daily toll of this high-priced food which will greatly lessen the profits, unless this wholesale slaughter can be stopped. […]
Davis-Palmer factory is doing considerable business. C. P. Palmer, with his able staff of workers, of which there is said to be not one slacker, is engaged in salting and packing fish. Every part, including scales of “the contemptible herring,” is utilized. […]
Mrs. Cora L. Keane is patronizing Walker’s Poultry Farm. Fifty husky Leghorn chicks were purchased by her the past week.
T. D. Gough, our up-to-date hustling farmer, is putting in early trucks for market; his tomato plants are six or eight inches high.
Johnnie Hutchings, with his tractor, has finished plowing for Mrs. C. L. Keane.
