WHITE STONE—Virginia State Police (VSP) on Wednesday, August 13, released information clearing the driver of a truck towing a camper believed to have been involved in an alleged hit-and-run accident on the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge.

The driver of the truck/camper for this incident has been located, reported VSP public relations director Robin Lawson.

The truck and camper were inspected by the VSP and found not to be involved with the crash, which occurred about 6 p.m. Friday, August 1. The truck driver was interviewed and provided a statement regarding the incident.

New information, along with third party witness testimony, have changed this incident from a hit-and-run crash to a two-vehicle crash, with the investigation ongoing and charges pending, said Lawson.

Tips from citizens were very helpful in receiving the information needed to determine the cause of the crash, she said.
