
SAMPSON’S WHARF—Gilliam Franklin “Frankie” Hall Jr., also known well to his trucking friends as “Hardcrab,” passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. He was a waterman, truck driver and construction worker.
Frankie leaves behind the love of his life for 52 years, who was his high school sweetheart and wife for 47 years, Barbara Sanford Hall; his youngest son, Christopher “Chris” Hall; and his father, Gilliam Franklin Hall Sr.
Frankie was preceded in death by his oldest son, William “Billy” F. Hall; his mother, Shirley Booth Hall; father-in-law, John Sanford Sr. and mother-in-law Margaret Sanford with whom he shared many wonderful times; and his brother-in-law, John Sanford, Jr.
Frankie shared a love of the outdoors with his wife Barbara and his sons. He was known for being a wonderful husband, father and friend. He enjoyed his trucking life and the many friends he made working.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
