TAPPAHANNOCK—The Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday, October 8, at approximately 12:44 p.m. on Kino Road just north of Clarke Lane in Essex County.
A 2019 Kia Sorento traveling south on Kino Road crossed the double-yellow centerline and struck a northbound 2010 Chevrolet Silverado head-on, reported VSP Division I public information officer Sgt. Jessica B. Shehan.
The driver of the Kia, Devin Nicole Woodland, 29, of Tappahannock died at the scene, said Sgt. Shehan. The driver of the Chevrolet, Timothy Winn McKinley, 59, of Tappahannock, was airlifted to VCU Medical Center in Richmond for treatment of serious injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates neither driver was restrained at the time of the crash, she said. The crash remains under investigation.
