IRVINGTON—In her final report on behalf of the Commons Revitalization Committee, chairman Judy Penniman on Thursday, December 12, reported to town council that a $50,000 no-match grant has been awarded to the Town of Irvington for trees and plantings at the Irvington Commons.
According to Penniman, the grant is from the Department of Environmental Quality and was received through Friends of the Rappahannock.
“This is the largest grant the town has ever been offered with no match,” Penniman said.
While she will not be serving on council come January, she hopes council will vote to accept the grant to continue bettering the Commons, she said. Further action is expected to occur in early 2025.
