IRVINGTON—Jimmie Lee Crockett, 83, of Irvington passed away on May 9, 2025. He was born on November 6, 1941, to the late Vernon and Doris Crockett.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edwina Crockett; his son, Riley Crockett; daughter, Anna Merryman; brother, Vernon “Buddy” Crockett; and brother, Paul Wilborn.

He is survived by his sister, Janet Dawson; brother, Ronnie (Cathy) Crockett; and sister-in-law, Doris (Paul) Wilborn; bonus children, Joey (Kathy) Humphreys, Gennie Uebel and David Lawrence; grandchildren, Caroline, Joseph, Jaclyn and Shane; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jimmie was true to his Tangier Island heritage and loved spending his time on the water aboard his boat the Hokie Hi. He was one of the most passionate fans of his alma mater, Virginia Tech, from which he graduated in 1965. Jimmie loved to travel with friends and family and always enjoyed sharing stories from his adventures. He was a lifelong member of Irvington United Methodist Church and a former member of the Lancaster County Lions Club. He worked for Farm Bureau for 28 years until his retirement in 2009.

Jimmie loved people and always enjoyed social gatherings. He was incredibly patriotic, strong in his faith and loved his family. He was known by others for his infectious smile, kind heart and big personality.

A memorial service will take place at Irvington United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Irvington United Methodist Church.

The family asks if you are attending the service, please wear patriotic colors or Virginia Tech colors, as they were two of Jimmie’s biggest passions.
