Lancaster sluggers hit two wins over Colonial Beach, 10-0, 14-2

Lancaster tallied 24 runs in two games to sweep Colonial Beach in varsity baseball and improve to 12-7 with one game remaining in regular season play.

The Red Devils were set to play a make-up game with Essex earlier this week and stand in fifth place in Region A rankings with the tournament to start on May 29. Because of weather-related postponements last week, the Northern Neck District tournament which was scheduled for this week was canceled. Regular season games needed to be played to finalize the region pairings.

Rappahannock was in first place in the region at press time; Northumberland, second; and Essex, third. With several make-up games this week, that could change.

Lancaster 10, Colonial Beach 0

Three pitchers went to the mound to pitch six innings of shutout ball in a 10-0 win over the Drifters on Monday, May 12. Josh Woolard got the win, striking out nine and not allowing a hit or walk in three innings. Taylor Davis fanned five batters, allowed one hit and didn’t walk a batter in two innings and Brady Vanlandingham closed with one strikeout in….
