The Lancaster High School boys track and field team produced five individual champions and scored 177 points to win the Northern Neck District meet at Northumberland on Friday, May 23.

Matthew Kane, Xavier Sutton and Josh Woolard walked away as individual champions with Kane winning both the 800 meter, 2:05.81, and the 1600 meter, 4:43.14, while Sutton cleared 5’8” to win the high jump and Woolard cleared 10’0 to win the pole vault.
The LHS 4X800 meter relay team also won its race in 9:01.45.
The Red Devils beat runner-up Rappahannock by 40 points in team scoring with the Raiders scoring 137. Westmoreland was third with 102 points, Essex fourth with 97 and host Northumberland fifth with 46.
Rappahannock won the girls meet with 150 points. Westmoreland was the runner-up with 108. Lancaster finished third with 93 points, Northumberland fourth with 89.5 and Essex fifth with 52.
The top four finishers in each event at the district meet, plus those that have already met qualifying standards, advance to the Region 1A meet scheduled for May 28 at Charles City. The top eight finishers scored in the district….
