Lancaster High School eighth graders have a new elective option.
Music appreciation is a new course taught by band director Noah Sharp. The goal of this course is to introduce students to various instruments and styles of music to foster an appreciation for different forms of music.
“It’s been exciting to introduce the skills of reading and playing music to students who may not have chosen to take band in sixth grade,” said Sharp. “Everyone deserves the chance to make music.”
Instruments for the course were made possible by a grant from the Lancaster County Virginia Education Foundation, with funding from Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church.
