Marion A. Cockrell

BURGESS—Marion Anthony Cockrell, 76, of Burgess passed away on March 5, 2025.

She was the widow of Edward D. “Billy Buck” Cockrell, Sr. and the daughter of the late James Thomas Anthony Sr. and Ora George Anthony.

Marion was a pharmacy technician at Main Street Pharmacy. She attended Fairport Baptist Church, was a member of the Rappahannock Rifle and Pistol Club and was Madam Chairperson of the Republican Committee of Northumberland County. She also enjoyed quilting with her Quilting Guild friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dr. Thomas S. Harris Jr. (Heather) of Forest, Christina L. Brown of Heathsville and Stephanie C. Albright (Jason) of Norfolk; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Thomas “Tommy” Anthony Jr. (Bonnie) of Reedville and Lloyd Douglas Anthony (Sharon) of White Stone; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Dale Clarke.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Morattico Baptist Church in Kilmarnock. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Northumberland Republican Scholarship Fund, PO Box 664, Callao, VA 22435.
