Nature stroll to highlight wetlands plants and animals

The Northern Neck Chapter of Virginia Master Naturalists and Belle Isle State Park (BISP) will be holding their monthly “Walk on the Wild Side” nature stroll from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, March 13. The theme will be “Wetlands in the Park.”

Participants should plan to meet at the Camp Store, BISP, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster. Advance registration is requested, 462-5030.

Wetlands are any type of seasonally or permanent land areas saturated with water—marshes, bogs, swamps, ponds, and so on. They are necessary habitats for many species of plants and animals including….
