Red Devils pop to the top in district basketball, tied with Indians, 5-1

The Red Devils improved to 9-6 overall in varsity basketball last week. Adding wins over Westmoreland and Rappahannock, Lancaster, 5-1, is tied for first place in the Northern Neck District boys varsity basketball with Northumberland.

However, the Indians have an advantage over the Devils in the rating system for the top spot on the leader board in Region A. Lancaster is ranked third with a week remaining in regular season play. The Devils and Indians meet a second time on Tuesday, February 11, in Claraville.

Against the Eagles on January 28, the Devils scored three unanswered goals in the third quarter to take a five-point lead and fired shot for shot with WHS in the fourth to hold on….
