Red Devils wrestlers  hit the mat strong

The Lancaster High School wrestling team went 3-2 and had two gold medalists in the 13-team Lancaster Duals just before taking a two-week holiday break.

The Red Devils beat Northumberland, 60-6, Windsor, 54-12, and Warwick, 39-21, in the day-long duals on December 17. Northampton beat Lancaster, 42-24, and Grafton got by LHS, 36-24.

DJ Zeiler (144) and Hunter Sebra (150) both went 5-0 to pick up their second gold medals of the season.

Zeiler had two pins, one 25 seconds into a match, and took wins of 3-1 and 2-0 in close matches. He’s the veteran of the team as a senior fourth-year wrestler with state tournament experience.

The majority of coach Craig Oren’s team are underclassmen with limited to no wrestling experience.

Sebra is a junior but new to the LHS team. He and twin brother Trevor Sebra (126), who moved back to the Northern Neck from Missouri, “have been doing exceptionally well with the team,” said Oren. “Trevor is very aggressive and….
