REHOBOTH CHURCH—Mr. Robert Eugene Hall of Rehoboth Church, passed away at the age of 98 on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Hospital in Mechanicsville.
Mr. Hall was born on August 27, 1926, in Twinton, Tennessee, to his late parents Edward Robert Hall and Gussie Elizabeth Ricketts Hall. He spent his youth around the coal mines of Tennessee and Kentucky before moving to the Northern Neck as a young man.
Mr. Hall and family worked on a local farm in Remo, before going to work at the Newport News Naval Shipyard. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany from November 30, 1944, through August 29, 1946. He was a member of K Company, 334th Infantry, 84th Infantry Division, Headquarters Company and received an Army Occupation Medal (Germany), Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon and an Honorable Discharge.
The remainder of his working life he had careers/jobs as a bricklayer, electrician, waterman and general contractor.
Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Ruby Lee Allison Hall; four brothers, Edward, James, Frank and John; and sister, Florence.
He is survived by a brother, Leonard Roy Hall; daughter, Shern Hall Saunders; and son, Rusty Wayne Hall (Jane Leigh); three grandchildren, R. Wayne Hall (Jennifer), Casey Saunders McKenzie (Ryan) and Sarah Hall Hamilton (Ricky); great-grandchildren, Taylor Grace Hamilton, Nathan Wayne Hall, Ashby Elise Hall, Cora Anna Hall, Tyler Garrett Hamilton, Layna Nicole Hall, Ruby Pearl McKenzie and Daisy Lee McKenzie.
A visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m.
He was laid to rest at Morattico Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wade Bryan, Wayne Hall, Ricky Hamilton, Nathan Hall, Tyler Hamilton and William Conrad.
