WEEMS—Robert John Janeski passed away April 6, 2025, four days shy of turning 87.
He was born in Amsterdam, N.Y., to John Janeski and Mary Opiela.
He is survived by wife, Patricia Ordon; daughter, Anne Janeski; son, Todd Janeski; grandson, Jacob Janeski; brother, James Janeski; cousins, nieces and nephews.
After the Army, and working as a N.Y. State real estate appraiser, he moved to Washington, D.C., to continue his career with the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. Helping in its modernization, he introduced computer and electronic communications technology.
He and Patricia retired to The Green in Weems, overlooking the Rappahannock for 25 years. He served on the Green Association board for 12 years and later on the Lancaster County Wetlands Board for 10 years.
While he may have been a “come here” in the Northern Neck, his warmth, dedication and community spirit helped many see him as a “from here.”
A man of deep generosity and quiet strength, he will be remembered for his steady hands, cooking great food, humor, and the love he gave so freely to all.
