Sheriff’s Report 5-22-25

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against nine individuals.

Felonies

Cody Ray Jones, 32, of Urbanna was charged May 13 with disregarding signal by law enforcement officer to stop, eluding, assault and battery of a law enforcement officer, knowingly obstructing law enforcement officer in the performance of duties (misdemeanor), driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated (misdemeanor), refusal to submit breath or blood for chemical test (misdemeanor), driving after forfeiture of license (misdemeanor), and while being the driver of a vehicle on a highway marked with double traffic lines consisting of two immediately adjacent solid white lines, cross such lines (summons).

Karyne Marie Durby, 23, of Reedville was charged May 14 with malicious wounding (capias/indictment).

Jalin Nathaniel Powell, 23, of Reedville was charged May 15 with revocation of suspension of sentence and probation on the underlying charge of unlawful wounding.

Devin Tyler Brown, 36, of Weems was charged May 17 with abduction (felony) and assault and battery of a family or household member (misdemeanor).

Misdemeanors

A Lancaster man, 34, was charged May 12 with disobeying an order of the court.

A Topping man, 50, was charged May 13 with driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated (capias/indictment).

A Warrenton woman, 56, was charged May 14 with driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated, refusal to submit breath or blood for chemical testing, and reckless driving by driving a vehicle that was not under proper control on a highway.

A Lancaster man, 46, was charged May 15 with failure to appear in court for arraignment on the underlying charge of driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

An Irvington man, 66, was charged May 18 with pointing, holding or brandishing a firearm, air or gas operated weapon or object similar in appearance.

May 12: Staff responded to the 9000 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious person, to the 10 block of Coleman Lane for an assault, to the 300 block of Bayview Lane for legal advice, to the 9000 block of Mary Ball Road for a disabled vehicle, to the 1000 block of Black Stump Road for a larceny, to the 4000 block of Morattico Road for a verbal dispute, to the 500 block of Chesapeake Drive for a neighbor dispute, to Mary Ball and Goodluck roads for a disabled vehicle, to the 700 block of Nuttsville Road for an adult welfare check, to Mary Ball Road and Avis Trail for a vehicle pursuit by law enforcement.

May 13: Staff responded to Jefferson Street for trespassing, to Mary Ball Road and Hickory Hill Lane for a downed tree, to the 1900 block of Black Stump Road for a downed tree, to Mary Ball Road and Avis Trail for a disabled vehicle, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for a larceny, to the 100 block of Inlet Cove for destruction of property, to the 1000 block of Taylors Creek Road for a downed tree, to the 3000 block of Black Stump Road for a suspicious person, and to the 10 block of Waterview Lane for  suspicious activity.

May 14: Staff responded to the 1000 block of Regina Road for a verbal dispute, to Jefferson Street for trespassing, to Mary Ball and Regina roads for a disabled vehicle, to the 4000 block of Windmill Point Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 70 block of Peake Road for a verbal dispute.

May 15: Staff responded to the 6000 block of Morattico Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

May 16: Staff responded to Millburn Way and Mary Ball Road for a disabled vehicle, and to the 600 block of Paynes Creek Road for a verbal dispute.

May 17: Staff responded to the 400 block of Rappahannock Drive for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 2000 block of Weems Road for an adult welfare check, and to the 100 block of Inlet Cove for a domestic disturbance.

May 18: Staff responded to the 100 block of Turner Lane for a verbal dispute, and to the 30 block of Split Oak Lane for a subject with a gun.

Staff also conducted 14 traffic stops, issued eight summonses, assisted two motorists, investigated four building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged six inmate transports, received four E911 hang up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to separate traffic crashes at 4324 Windmill Point Road and 419 Rappahannock Drive and with Kilmarnock VFD to a residential structure fire at 112 Rose Drive.

Kilmarnock VFD also responded to a traffic crash at Bluff Point and Jarvis Point roads and a fire alarm at 201 Long Lane Farm Road.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a traffic crash at 6317 Morattico Road.
