Sue Harper

Sue Harper

REEDVILLE—It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected and peaceful passing of Sue Harper in her home on Saturday, December 21, 2024, leaving an immeasurable void in our family.

Sue was born on December 8, 1959, in Spotsylvania. Sue and John were married in 1982 and enjoyed 42 years together in a wonderful and blessed marriage. Sue was a devoted wife, mother and Granny.

Sue moved to Reedville after years in Stafford and enjoyed the peace and beauty of the area with John, family and friends. She was very active in her church life, both at Mount Ararat Baptist Church in Stafford and Fairport Baptist Church in Reedville.

Sue began a career with the FBI at Quantico in 1980 and retired from there in December 2022, but she had a 22-year maternity leave of absence during that span. During that time, she raised their three children and worked part time with the Mount Ararat weekly preschool program.

Sue loved her grandchildren immensely and enjoyed regular visits and family vacations at the beach. Everyone who knew Sue loved her. John says Sue was an angel in human form. Her loving warmth will be truly missed by all who knew her and her love of Jesus will be carried on through family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, John A. Harper; children, Lauren Matusiak (John), Leighanne Andrews (Matthew), and Jonathan Harper (Sarah); grandchildren, Clark and Caroline Matusiak and Emma and Annie Andrews; brothers, Ricky Pritchett (Donna) and Steve Pritchett (Laverne); and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sue was preceded in death by her father, William S. Pritchett; mother, Patsy Pritchett; sister, Nita Anderson; brother-in-law, Rex Anderson; niece, Kelly Pritchett; father-in-law, James W. Harper Sr.; and mother-in-law, Jean P. Harper.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 3, at the funeral home chapel followed by interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens and a luncheon at Stafford Crossing Community Church. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, at Fairport Baptist Church, 2395 Fairport Road, Reedville,.
