WEEMS—Susan Elliot Clark-Frith, 70, of Weems and Glen Allen passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Susan was born in Richmond on January 15, 1954, to the late William H. Clark Sr. and Nancy T. Hotchkiss. Susan graduated from Lancaster High School in 1972. She then pursued her dream of nursing at Riverside School of Nursing, graduating in 1975. In 2010, she received her bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Phoenix, as well as a Community Services Award from their alumni association in 2009.
In 1977, Susan began her journey as a labor and delivery/mother baby nurse at Rappahannock General Hospital in Kilmarnock. In 2004, she began working in The Birthplace at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, where she retired in 2014.
In 1985, she married the love of her life, Raymond Lewis Frith III. Together they showed their four children the meaning of true love.
Susan was a volunteer for the March of Dimes. She was also a leader of the United Methodist Youth Fellowship at Bethel & Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She spent a lot of her time volunteering with the Band Boosters and chaperoning for the Lancaster High School Red Devils Band.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, William H. Clark Sr. and Nancy T. Hotchkiss; her grandparents, Eugene and Marie Clark and Elliot and Nettie Tignor; her aunts, Helen Jean Haynie (Braden) and Margaret “Tuck” Curtis; and her uncle, Bill Tignor.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Raymond Lewis Frith III; her children, Beth Pease Forrester (Jim), Kevin Lewis Frith (Emily), Katie Pease Dixo, and Jonathan Clark Frith (Kristin); her seven beautiful grandchildren, Haley Marie Pease, Elijah Wayne Dixon, Paige Elizabeth Forrester, James Elliot Forrester, Katie Scarlett Frith, Kinley Madison Frith and Jacob Clark Frith; her mother-in-law, Joan Sieg; her brother, William H. Clark Jr. (Kim); her brothers-in-law, Chuck Frith (Debbie) and Michael Frith (Lee); many cherished nieces and nephews; and her loving and compassionate dear friend and caregiver, Patricia Bullock.
Funeral Services will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church in Lively at noon on Friday, January 3, with visitation starting at 11 a.m.
Donations can be made in memory of Susan to the March of Dimes, the Helen Cover Scholarship Fund (Bethel & Emmanuel United Methodist Church) or – as she was an avid cat lover – to a local animal rescue/shelter.
