Quilt show
The King and Queen County Quilt Show will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. March 14 and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March 15 at the King and Queen County Public Library, 396 Newtown Road, St. Stephens Church.
The show, held in conjunction with the VA250 program, is free and open to the public.
Classical bluegrass
The Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts On Stage series will continue at 7:30 p.m. March 15 at the Lancaster Elementary School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock. The Kruger Brothers trio will join the Soluna String Quartet for bluegrass infused with classical and folk influences.

Irish supper
The Mathews Museum will host an Irish supper on St Patrick’s Day, March 15, at the Kingston Parish Hall, 370 Main Street, Mathews. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The event will include a silent auction, cash bar, Diggs School of Dance performance at 6 p.m. and buffet dinner at 7 p.m. with music by the Stutts Creek Boys.

Lee women
Commemorating the Lives: The Lee Women of Stratford Hall will be highlighted from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Stratford Hall Historic Preserve, 483 Great House Road, Stratford. Visitors can explore the Great House and grounds for $5 and learn about the Lee women.
Preregistration is not required. Tickets will be available at Stratford Hall on the day of the event.
Community
league dinner
Bluff Point Community League will hold a potluck dinner on Monday, March 17, at 2595 Bluff Point Road, Kilmarnock. Social time will begin at 6 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Bring a dish to share.
Aubrey and Terri Smoot are the after-dinner speakers. They will talk about their year-long boating adventure and completing the Great American Loop.
Daffodil workshop
The Kilmarnock Garden Club will host a workshop at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Kilmarnock Baptist Church, 65 East Church Street, Kilmarnock.
Deborah Brooks and Carla Stanley, members of the Gloucester Daffodil Club, will explain the 13 Divisions of Daffodils. Brooks’ goal is “planting the Northern Neck yellow.”
Women’s studies
“Reclaiming Women’s Power in the American Revolutionary Era,” a virtual lecture with Dr. Jacqueline Beatty, will be presented at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, by Stratford Hall Historic Preserve.

Gardening seminar
The Northern Neck Master Gardeners’ (NNMG) Spring 2025 Gardening in the Northern Neck Seminar will be held from 8:15 a.m.-3 p.m. March 29 at the White Stone Church of the Nazarene Family Life Center, 57 Whisk Drive, White Stone.

RCA show
The Rappahannock Concert Association will present singer and actor Ciaran Sheehan at 7:30 p.m. March 22, at the Northumberland County School Performing Arts Theater, 201 Academic Lane, Heathsville.

Brews & BBQ
The Stratford Hall Brews & BBQ Festival will be held from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. April 5 at Stratford Hall Historic Preserve, 483 Great House Road, Stratford. Enjoy barbecue, beverages, crafts, music and tours of the Great House and grounds.

Historic map
The Northumberland County Historical Society (NCHS) will present historian Mark Gearhart at 2:30 p.m. April 6 at the Ball Memorial Library and Museum, 86 Back Street, Heathsville.
Gearhart will discuss the recently released 17th century map of Northumberland County. The presentation is free to the public and light refreshments will be served after the program.
Lee’s surrender
“A Convulsion at Appomattox: Robert E. Lee, Ulysses S. Grant, and the Long History of Civil War Surrender,” a virtual lecture with Dr. David Silkenat will be presented at 6 p.m. April 9 by Stratford Hall Historic Preserve. The fee is $5. Advance registration is required, www.StratfordHall.org.
Join Dr. Gordon Blaine Steffey prior to the lecture at 5 p.m. in the Jessie Ball duPont Memorial Library for a reception and viewing of archives related to the Surrender at Appomattox Court House and the new Robert E. The Second Saturday Speaker Series will continue at 2 p.m. April 12, at the Steamboat Era Museum, 156 King Carter Drive, Irvington. Richard Covington will speak about his book, Northern Neck Fishing Steamers Go to War: Turning Fishboats into Warships.
