Fish fry

Morattico Waterfront Museum, 6584 Morattico Road, Morattico, will hold a fish fry from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, May 24. The menu will include baked beans, cole slaw, hush puppies and dessert.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for ages 6-12 and free for ages 5 and younger. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Tickets must be purchased in advance, contact any board member, or David Henley, 514-1830, or dwhenley1@gmail.com.

NCCCO dinner

The Northumberland County Community Center Organization, 679 Browns Store Road, Heathsville, will serve a fried chicken or pig feet dinner from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 24. Dinners also will include potato salad, string beans, roll, drink and dessert.

Win a quilt

The American Legion Adams Post 86 Ladies Auxiliary is conducting a raffle of a hand-embroidered king/queen size quilt. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Tickets may be purchased from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 5, 6, 26 and 27 in front of Tri-Star Supermarket, 81 Irvington Road, Kilmarnock, or from any auxiliary member. A drawing will be held on September 16.

Afternoon tea

The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society (LVHS) will host a special “Afternoon at Verville” at 3 p.m. June 7 at the home of Ammon G. Dunton, Jr. near Merry Point.

Tickets are $70 for LVHS members and $100 for others. Tickets must be purchased in advance. To secure a reservation, call 462-7280.

Virginia Resolved

Stratford Hall, 483 Great House Road, Stratford, recently announced plans for Virginia Resolved: A Commemoration of Independence, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 7.

Tickets are $15 for ages 14 and older, $10 for ages 6-13, and free for ages 5 and younger, as well as Friends of Stratford members, Blue Star Museum participants and Museums for All patrons. Purchase tickets at stratfordhall.org.

NNK250 speaker

The 2025 NNK250 Signature Speaker Series will conclude Sunday, May 25, at George Washington Birthplace National Monument, 1732 Popes Creek Road, Colonial Beach.

At 2 p.m., Dr. Lisa Wilson will present “A History of Stepfamilies in Early America.”

Rotary meetings

The Northern Neck Rotary Club meets at 7:30 a.m. on second and fourth Wednesdays at River Counties Community Foundation, 834 Rappahannock Drive, White Stone.

The speaker for May 28 will be Jamie Tucker, president of the Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts. Those interested in the speaker topics or Rotary are welcome.

“Frenemies”

 “Founding Frenemies: Hamilton and the Virginians,” a traveling exhibit from the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, will be on exhibit through May 26 at the Mathews Museum, 200 Main Street Mathews.

Co-sponsored by the Mathews Museum and the Mathews County Historical Society, the exhibit complements Lin-Manuel Miranda’s award-winning “Hamilton,” which tells the story of Alexander Hamilton’s relationships with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

History talk

The Mathews Museum, the Mathews Historical Society and the Mathews VA250 Committee will welcome speaker Philip Page at 7 p.m. June 6 at the Mathews Museum, 200 Main Street, Mathews.

Page, a descendant of the Mann Page family of Rosewell, will present “The Pages of Rosewell.” There is no cost for this presentation and reservations are not required.

Exploring services

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Richmond Chapter will present Exploring Care and Support Services from 1-2:30 p.m. June 12 at Giving Hearts Home Care, 44 First Street, Suite Chesapeake-1, White Stone.

Juneteenth Celebration

The Northern Neck Hidden History Trail will hold a Juneteenth Celebration from noon-5 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Ma Margaret’s House B&B, 249 Greenfield Road, Reedville.

The speaker will be Dr. Cassandra Newby-Alexander. Country singer Roberta Lea will bring soulful sounds with a country twist. There also will be line dancing, food, games and vendors.
