REGINA—With heavy hearts the family of William Keith Wilmer share his passing on April 30, 2025. Keith was born on February 22, 1952, to the late William W. “Bubba” Wilmer and Jane Haynie Wilmer.

Keith is survived by his wife of 53 years, Brenda Pittman Wilmer of Regina. Also surviving are his son, William Todd Wilmer of Shawsville; and his daughter, Erin W. Haynie and her husband, Billy Haynie of Fleeton. Keith is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, William Austin Wilmer of Boiling Springs, S.C., Jessica Lynn Haynie, Sarah Elizabeth Haynie and William Tyler Haynie all of Fleeton.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Alan W. Wilmer and Timothy P. Wilmer.

Keith, known as “Coochie Pop” by many of the area watermen, began his lifelong love of the water at the age of 11. The last 20 years he has cut grass for his many customers in Lancaster and Northumberland counties.

Keith lived life as he wanted. He was a friend to many and loved to talk and ask questions whether he knew you or not. Keith never met a dog that he couldn’t win over. He was often considered a dog whisperer.

A visitation with be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock. The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at Currie Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Rehoboth Methodist Church, 126 Shiloh School Road, Kilmarnock, VA 22482.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Keith’s memory to the Reedville Fisherman’s Museum, P.O. Box 306, Reedville, VA 22539; Animal Welfare League of the Northern Neck, P.O. Box 975, White Stone, VA 22578; or a charity of your choice.
