William T. “Tom” Light Sr.

WARSAW—William Thomas “Tom” Light Sr., 76, of Warsaw passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025. He was born March 6, 1949, in Richmond where he grew up. He was predeceased by his parents, Moore and Frances Light.

Tom was a devoted husband to Jean, son, father, brother, and grandfather. He was the owner and operator of Lighthouse Builders, and loved an opportunity to be on or near the water. He was an avid sailor, and he and Jean covered many nautical miles on the James and Rappahannock rivers, and the Chesapeake Bay. He especially liked cruising the upper bay to ports of Annapolis, St. Michaels, Oxford and Cambridge.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Rappahannock Rifle and Pistol Club. He was also a dedicated and faithful member of Oakland United Methodist Church where he chaired and served on several committees.

Left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss are his wife, Jean; daughters, Rebecca Light and Katherine Light; and son, William Light. His extended family includes Kevin Frith (Emily) and Blake Harper. His grandchildren are Liam Light and Scarlett Frith. He is survived by his brother, Harold Light (Beverly).

The family received guests from 5:30-7:30 p.m.Wednesday, October 8, at Welch Funeral Home, 10300 Richmond Road, Warsaw.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 9, at Oakland United Methodist Church, 3223 Oakland Road, Farnham, with interment immediately following at Farnham Baptist Church Cemetery, 4632 Farnham Creek Road, Farnham. A reception will follow in the Farnham Baptist Church Reception Hall.
