129th Holly Ball season commences

The Holly Ball Committee recently announced 18 young ladies will be presented at the 129th Tidewater Foundation Holly Ball at 7 p.m. December 27 at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club (ICYCC).

The Holly Ball dates from 1895 and has been continuously observed annually except during World War I, World War II and the Covid pandemic. John Armistead Palmer crowned the first queen at the Eubank Hotel in Kilmarnock while hosting a holiday party. It became the precursor of the Tidewater Assembly Holly Ball and the subsequent crowning of a queen in each year thereafter, reported publicity chairman Patricia Gallagher.

On Saturday, November 29, the debutante season commenced at ICYCC where the committee hosted a coffee for debutantes and their mothers. Also present were….
