138 Thanksgiving meals delivered with love

Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church in Weems gathered, prepared, served and delivered 138 meals to individuals in lower Lancaster County who are limited by the means or the mobility to get and prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The event is an annual outreach from the church that has been ongoing for more than 15 years and is much anticipated by members for the shared fellowship and service.

Partners in this year’s event included Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury, which prepared the turkeys and dressing; The Sandpiper Restaurant, which helped with creamed potatoes and butter; TriStar, which procured various and sundry items, as well as church members who prepared home-cooked vegetables, salads and desserts. White Stone Baptist Church went the extra mile by providing a second-day meal that they could easily prepare for a later meal so as to avoid leftovers.

Remaining meals, prepared as a contingency, were delivered to the BonSecours/RGH Emergency Department for the dedicated staff serving on the holiday.

Those serving related that their Thanksgiving meal with their families was all-the-more delicious knowing that some in the community were sharing a meal with them.
