22nd Irvington Turkey Trot boasts another record-breaking participation

Fair weather may have contributed to a large gathering of spectators for the 22nd Irvington Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, November 24.

However, there was destined to be a crowd as the signup exceeded last year’s record-setting numbers.

Race chairman Michelle Lybarger on Thursday morning indicated a total of 762 participants had registered for the two-mile and five-mile events this Thanksgiving Day. The 2021 trot attracted over 600.

Riley Fletcher of Annandale and Evan Leach of Weems placed first and second in the five-mile. The two paced one another at the front of the pack throughout the race.

Fletcher crossed the finish line at 27:26.478. Leach followed at 27:26.621. They both run cross country at the University of Richmond.

Brady Scioscia of Midlothian placed first in the two-mile at 11:28.497.
