CALLAO—Marie Cralle Suthard, 94, of Callao passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Marie was born in Village in 1927 to the late Darius Edwin Cralle and the late Virginia Edith Lewis Cralle. She was the widow of James Murphy Suthard. She was a lifelong member of Gibeon Baptist Church.
Marie was an alumna of the Smithdeal Massey Business College in Richmond where she majored in business. She was an administrative assistant with the telephone company in its various iterations for 43 years.
Marie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed crochet and working on puzzles. She loved cats, especially her baby Caitie Lou.
Marie loved her family dearly and was a doting aunt. She is survived by her niece-in-law, Betty Marie Cralle; great-niece Susan Cralle Saunders (Rick); great-nephew Christopher F. Cralle (Jeanette); numerous other beloved nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and her dear friend Glenn Hockaday.
Marie was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband of 41 years; her devoted companion, Wade Hampton Hudson; her brother, Lewis B. Cralle Sr.; her sister-in-law, Louise Cralle; and her nephew, Lewis B. Cralle Jr.
A funeral service for Marie was held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 24, at Welch Marks Funeral Home. The Reverends David McEntire, Dan Zampogna and Danny Maupin officiated. Burial followed in the Gibeon Baptist Church Cemetery. A reception followed in the Gibeon Church Fellowship Hall.
Pallbearers were Keith Amos, James Amos, Burnell Fallin, Lee Self, Paulin Sanchez, and Bob Cralle. Honorary pallbearer was George D. English.
