It was a hot clear day with just a slight breeze blowing and Ethel Carpou was ready to celebrate with her friends. Fourteen friends from the Northumberland Homemakers Club gathered at Los Portales Mexican Restaurant in Burgess to help celebrate this milestone.
It was not only Ethel’s 97th birthday but the group was celebrating the fact that she had the distinction of being the oldest member, but she also has the longest continuous membership, reported public relations chairman Velencia Keeve.
“It has been a pleasure to work, play and plan community outreach endeavors with someone as delightful as Ethel Carpou,” said Keeve. “Ethel enjoyed her celebration and we enjoyed being with her.”
