William L. “Billy” Elswick

HEATHSVILLE—William Leon “Billy” Elswick, 78 of Heathsville died on June 7, 2026. He was the son of the late Herman Leon and Mary Elizabeth Blake Elswick.

Billy is survived by his son, W. Troy Elswick (Amanda), (Brittany) of Weems; his daughter, Lorrie Hardin (Hosea) of Williamsburg; stepdaughter, Chandra Johnson of Heathsville; and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Acors (Jack) of White Stone, brother, Darnell Elswick (Cathe) of Orange; and daughter-in-law, Susan Elswick.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie A. Elswick; son, Keith Elswick; granddaughter, Kaylin Leigh Elswick; and his sister, Judy Kellum.

Billy was a Vietnam veteran and worked with Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office in corrections for 26 years. He was also a long-standing member of American Legion Post 86 in Kilmarnock.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 12, at Claybrook Baptist Church in Weems, interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5–7 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Claybrook Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the American Legion Adams Post 86.
