Educational programs tied to America’s 250th celebration plus deck tours will be offered free when the historic Chesapeake Bay skipjack Sigsbee comes to Reedville June 17-18.
The Sigsbee, home-ported in Baltimore, is marking 125 years since its construction in 1901. It will dock at the foot of Main Street at the Crazy Crab. Tours will be offered from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday.
The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, which owns the 1911 skipjack Claud W. Somers, is hosting the visit. The museum, not usually open on Wednesdays, will be open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. June 17 in addition to the usual Thursday-Sunday hours. Crew members will be aboard the Somers at the museum dock….
