KILMARNOCK—It is with great sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Connor Martin Edward Donahue, 29, of Kilmarnock on July 3, 2026. Born September 6, 1996, at 10:41 p.m., Connor was the only child of Tara Donahue and Jonathan Pruett.
Connor spent his early years in Lynchburg, but largely grew up in the Northern Neck, where he enjoyed playing soccer and water activities on the Chesapeake Bay. He also spent many memorable summers with family in Washington State.
Connor graduated from Lancaster High School in 2014, followed by earning an undergraduate degree with a concentration in computer science from West Virginia University in 2020.
While in college, Connor met and rescued his first dog, Oakley. From that moment on, the two were inseparable. It was during his time in West Virginia that Connor developed a deeper love of the outdoors, spending his free time trail hiking, camping, river rafting and snowboarding. The beauty of the Mountain State captured his heart, and after graduating Connor chose to make Morgantown, West Virginia, his home.
Connor loved traveling—having recently spent time cruising in the Caribbean and snowboarding in Colorado with family and gallivanting around France with friends. He developed a passion for cooking from his dad and his enjoyment of attending music concerts from his mom. His time playing soccer stuck with him and he became a long-time soccer enthusiast.
Connor’s adventurous spirit, love of the outdoors and genuine enjoyment of life—and his playful encouragement for everyone to do the same—has left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to have known him. The loss of Connor will be profoundly felt by his family and friends, whose lives are forever changed by the absence he leaves behind. Connor, thank you for being a part of our lives. Our love for you will never fade, and your memory will remain in our hearts forever.
Connor leaves behind his loving Mom and Dad (Tara and Jonathan); his Grandma Sherrie and Grandpa Richard; Grandpa and Grandma (Shawn and Sandy); and Great-Grandma Wilhelm. Connor is also survived by Aunt Tricia and Uncle Cedric, Aunt Ashley and Uncle Chris, Uncle Jamie and Aunt Andrea, Uncle Michael and Aunt Emily, Uncle Thomas and Charlie Pruett; cousins, Tristan, Raven, Layla, Dwayne, Case, Levi, Toby, Joshua, Mason, Grayson and Colm; and several great aunts and uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
Connor was preceded in death by his beloved dog and best friend, Oakley; Great Grandpa and Grandma Donahue, Great Grandpa and Grandma Leyda, Great-Grandpa Wilhelm, and Susan Pruett.
A celebration of Connor’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at Currie Funeral Home, 116 East Church Street, Kilmarnock, VA 22482. Connor’s family will receive visitors prior to the service at 1 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather to share memories and honor Connor’s life.
