Coffee with a cop
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will host “coffee with a cop” at 9 a.m. today, July 23, at Front Porch Coffeehouse, 139 South Main Street, Kilmarnock.

Members of the public are urged to meet and chat with law enforcement representatives.

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported one misdemeanor offense.

A Lancaster man, 58, was charged July 19 with driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Activity report

July 13: Staff responded to Chesapeake Drive and Beach Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 2000 block of River Road for a scam, to the 30 block of Whispering Pines Road for a property dispute, to Mary Ball and Goodluck roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash.

July 14: Staff responded to the I00 block of Pinckardsville Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to Black Stump Road and James B. Jones Memorial Highway for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for a larceny, to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road (Whispering Pines Motel) for a suspicious vehicle, to the 5000 block of Mary Ball Road for threats, to the 1300 block of Irvington Road for a verbal dispute, and to the 100 block of Turner Lane for a verbal dispute.

July 15: Staff responded to the 2000 block of Morattico Road for a civil complaint, to Goodluck Road for a reckless driver, and to the 11000 block of Courthouse Road for a suspicious person.

July 16: Staff responded to the 1900 block of Mary Ball Road for an adult welfare check, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 1000 block of Irvington Road for a suspicious person.

July 17: Staff responded to the 400 block of Old Orchard Drive for a verbal dispute, and to the 2000 block of Mary Ball Road for a disabled vehicle.

July 18: Staff responded to the 100 block of Gaskins Road for a domestic disturbance, to River Road for a downed tree, to Merry Point Road for a downed tree, to the 9000 block of Mary Ball Road for a downed tree, and to the 1000 block of Devils Bottom Road for a downed tree.

July 19: Staff responded to the 600 block of Corrotoman Drive for suspicious activity, to the 10000 block of Jessie duPont Memorial Highway for a suspicious person, and to the 11000 block of Mary Ball Road for a disabled vehicle.

Staff also conducted 25 traffic stops, issued eight summonses, assisted five motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, handled three requests for traffic control, investigated eight building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged an inmate transport, received eight E911 hang up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control.

Fire calls

White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash at Chesapeake Drive and Beach roads.

Kilmarnock VFD responded to separate traffic crashes at Mary Ball and Goodluck roads, Black Stump Road and James B. Jones Memorial Highway, Harris Road, and Pinkarsdsville Road with Upper Lancaster VFD; and to a utility line fire at Jessie duPont Memorial Highway and Goodluck Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against 18 individuals.

Felonies

Kevin Ray Cunningham, no age or address given, was charged June 18 on a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to follow the terms of his probation for the original charges of drugs.

Christopher K. Scanlan, 43, of Westmoreland was charged June 23 on a direct indictment issued by the Multi-jurisdictional Grand Jury for possession of a Schedule I/II drug.

Yussra Ahmad Hammoudeh, 37, of Heathsville was charged June 29 on a direct indictment issued by the Multi-jurisdictional Grand Jury for grand larceny, four counts of identity theft, and forgery/uttering. The grand larceny charge along with three counts of identity theft were over $200.

Russell Edward Gordon Jr., 28, of Callao was charged July 6 on a direct indictment issued by the Northumberland County Multi-jurisdictional grand jury for carnal knowledge of a child 13-14 without force.

Benjamin Anton Weston, 53, of Church View was charged July 7 with being a Tier III offender and being on school property during school hours. This was a Northumberland County warrant served by the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.

William Cyle Duncan, 31, of  Reedville was charged July 16 with failing to perform construction after being given an advance and operating without a contractor’s license.

Misdemeanors

A Lottsburg man, 77, was charged June 19 with reckless use of a firearm.

A Heathsville man, 52, was charged June 22 with stalking.

A Lottsburg man, 46, was charged June 23 on a capias/attachment of the body for failing to provide a urine screen to pre-trial services. This was a Northumberland County capias, served by the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

A Reedville woman, 39, was charged June 24 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to appear, after signing a form to return.

A Callao woman, 33, was charged June 28 with damaging property, disorderly conduct and dumping trash on the highway. These were Westmoreland charges served by Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Warsaw man, 24, was charged July 3 with threatening an illegal or immoral act over the phone.

A Heathsville woman, 46, was charged July 4 with animal cruelty.

A Heathsville woman, 25, was charged July 5 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Burgess woman, 68, was charged July 6 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to appear to follow doctor’s orders on competency evaluation.

A Heathsville man, 72, was charged July 10 with violating a protective order.

A Berryville man, 35, was charged July 11 with being drunk in public.

A Burgess man, 39, was charged July 16 with criminal trespass and being drunk in public.
