LANCASTER—Steven Woodrow Self will spend the next 10 years in prison for the November 2025 shooting at two family members during an argument at the Weems home Self shared with his wife, Rhonda. Lancaster County Circuit Court Judge R. Michael McKenney on Monday, August 10, sentenced Self to 43 years with all but 10 years suspended.
In June, a jury found Self, 63, guilty of two counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of malicious shooting at an occupied vehicle and one count of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, first offense.
Zyhkeia Self, 26 weeks pregnant at the time of the shooting and married to R. Self’s son, Brandon Self, testified during the trial that an argument occurred following a family gathering the night before Thanksgiving. She received a phone call from R. Self and could hear the couple arguing in the background, something that had happened previously. “She would call so we could hear what’s going on, but she wouldn’t say anything.” Z. Self and McKenzie Hathaway, R. Self’s niece, decided to go to the home.
As the argument escalated, S. Self introduced a gun and the two women chose to leave. Video from a camera installed at the back of the home showed….
