LANCASTER—The Lancaster County Circuit Court convened Friday, August 7, with the Hon. John S. Martin presiding.
In the case of Corey N. Bevell, no address given, charged with two felonies for grand larceny, an arraignment was continued to October 23.
In the case of James P. Campbell, no address given, charged with three felonies for grand larceny and two felonies for possession of stolen property with intent to sell, an arraignment was continued to October 23.
In the case Bailey M. Gough of Reedville, charged with a felony for child abuse, disregard for life, a status hearing was scheduled for September 18.
In the case of Michael S. Kappell of Heathsville, charged with a felony for accepting advance pay without providing construction, a status hearing was scheduled for September 11.
In the case of Randall S. Miles of Lancaster, charged with six misdemeanors for trespassing after being forbidden and misdemeanors for assault and battery of a family member, entering a property to damage, and stalking with fear of death or assault, a trial was scheduled for October 9.
In the case of Ian C. Sylva of Tappahannock, charged with a felony for malicious wounding, a hearing to appoint counsel was scheduled for September 11.
In the case of Wenqian Wen, no address given, charged with two felonies for obtaining money under false pretenses, an arraignment was continued to October 23.
In the case of Rosa M. Turner of Smithfield, charged with two felonies for violating probation, a show cause hearing was scheduled for October 16.
In the case of Alton W. Meekins of Irvington, charged with a felony for possession of a Schedule I/II substance, a plea hearing was continued generally.
In the case of Jerel L. Newton of Saluda, charged with felonies for selling/giving cocaine, being a violent felon in possession of a weapon, and violating probation, a trial was scheduled for September 4.

In the case of William C. Ashburn of Lancaster, appealing a General District Court misdemeanor conviction for reckless driving, 20 m.p.h. or more above the speed limit, a trial was continued to October 9.
In the case of Shardeja A. Brooks of Warsaw, appealing a General District Court misdemeanor conviction for shoplifting/altering merchandise, a trial was continued to October 9.
