Get back to nature at Belle Isle State Park

Belle Isle State Park education support specialist Rachel Howell recently posted the August event calendar.

All activities will be held at Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster. A $5 parking fee is payable at the park entrance.

Park visitors are reminded of a River Road detour. To reach the park, those heading north on River Road from White Chapel Road will need to take a right onto Nuttsville Road, a left onto Morattico Road, a left back onto River Road and a right on Belle Isle Road. Those heading north on Mary Ball Road from Kilmarnock should pass through Lively, turn left onto Morattico Road, left onto River Road and right onto Belle Isle Road. Those heading south from Robley will continue on Mary Ball Road, right onto River Road and right onto Belle Isle Road, avoiding the detour route.

From 2-4 p.m. Fridays, the Lancaster Community Library Bookmobile will visit the Campground Overflow Parking Area. Folks may check out and return books, access free Wi-Fi and sign up for a library card. Non-residents may participate.

On Friday, August 21, Ask A Ranger will be offered at 4 p.m. at the Campground Bath House. Park rangers will lead a quick craft and discuss Belle Isle’s history, or present a lesson on critters. It’s ranger’s choice, so every session is different.

Saturday, August 22, activities will include:
