Lancaster by the Bay Chamber of Commerce recently announced Carroll Lee Ashburn has been selected as the grand marshal of the 2026 Kilmarnock Lighted Christmas Parade on December 11.
The honor is especially fitting for Ashburn, whose connection to the parade reaches back decades, reported executive director Leslie Jingluski. While the parade had already begun when Ashburn became involved, he stepped into a leadership role during its early years and played an important part in shaping and growing the event.
The recognition comes during an especially meaningful year for Ashburn. The Kilmarnock Town Council recently proclaimed Carroll Lee Ashburn Day in recognition of his lifetime of service, dedication and unwavering commitment to the community. The celebration also marked another remarkable milestone—Ashburn’s 94th birthday.
For generations, Ashburn has been a familiar presence throughout Kilmarnock, Lancaster County and the Northern Neck. His contributions span community service, sports, broadcasting, historic preservation and a lifelong commitment to celebrating the people and stories of the region….
