Fiber art will be featured in the September art show at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury, 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington.
Carol Sennott has been interested in the arts since she was a toddler, when her artist mother taught her to sew on a treadle machine before she could even reach the pedal, she said. Her creations span a wide field, but she has focused her recent efforts on fiber art, especially yarns and paper, including one-of-a-kind greeting cards.
Sennott, immediate past president of the Five Rivers Fiber Guild (FRFG) will curate the show in the Atrium at RWC, where a variety of fiber handcrafts will be displayed.
Twelve members of the guild, which has been active for 30 years, will show their work. “We have very small quilts, knitted fingerless gloves, sock kits, Temari balls and a coiled basket, among other items,” Sennott said.
