NNEC explains rate increase; reassessor selected

by Madison White Franks

LANCASTER—Northern Neck Electric Cooperative (NNEC) president and chief executive officer Greg White reported to Lancaster supervisors last Thursday that a proposed increase in service rates is expected to take effect in 2018.

NNEC has filed an application with the State Corporation Commission (SCC) for a 5.47% increase in its base rates, which will generate an additional $1,821,759 in revenue, said White.

As proposed, the typical residential member using 1,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per month will see an increase of approximately $8.05 per month under the proposed new rate structure. The average monthly bill for a member using 1,000 kWh will be $137.15 under the proposed rates, he said.
