Lancaster escaped a couple of close calls last week to pick up wins over Rappahannock and Middlesex in varsity boys basketball.

The Red Devils broke a third quarter lock to pull away from the Raiders early in the fourth and hold on for a three-point win, 48-45, in their Northern Neck District opener.

Lancaster is now 6-3 overall and 1-0 in the district. The Devils will host Essex tomorrow, January 19, and travel to Christchurch School for an afternoon game, Saturday, January 20.

The Devils came off a 12-day break, courtesy of several snow-postponed games last week, to open district play against the Raiders last Friday…
