The new flashing yellow arrow signals drivers that they have permission to make a left turn when it is safe to do so, but that oncoming traffic has the right-of-way.
FREDERICKSBURG—Flashing yellow arrows will be installed at several traffic signals in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula to help drivers turn left safely against oncoming traffic.
According to Kelly Hannon of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), traffic signal equipment will be fitted with flashing yellow arrows by VDOT and its contractor at the following intersections in late February and March 2018, weather permitting:
• Route 3 and Route 200, Main Street and Irvington Road, as well as Main and Church Streets, Kilmarnock, Sunday, February 25 and Monday, February 26.
