Goodluck Road tract chosen for schools

LANCASTER—Following a closed session March 29, the Lancaster board of supervisors approved the purchase of land for proposed school facilities.

The 156-acre property at 2035 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock, will be purchased from Howard Beale for $795,000 pending a completed contract and a deposit of $12,000 to be made by April 11. The tract has frontage on both Goodluck and Mary Ball roads.

Chairman and District 4 supervisor Bill Lee moved to approve the purchase and the motion passed unanimously, 5-0, with support from District 1 supervisor Jack Larson, District 2 supervisor Ernest Palin Jr., District 3 supervisor Jason Bellows, District 5 supervisor Robert Westbrook and Lee.

The county considered three potential tracts, including property behind the middle school, property off Harris Road across from the Northern Neck Family YMCA, and the Goodluck Road property…
