Laquita M. Ball

NEWPORT NEWS—Laquita Monique Ball of Newport News, formerly of Kilmarnock, died April 1, 2018.

She was born on June 24, 1978, in Richmond to Ruth Rich and Irvin Ball Jr. She was reared in Kilmarnock.

She was a member of New St. John’s Baptist Church, Kilmarnock.

A 1997 graduate of Lancaster High School, she furthered her education at Center College in Newport News, where she earned an associate’s in occupational science with a concentration in medical assistance.

Laquita worked for CMG Pediatrics in Kilmarnock and Riverside Health Systems for over 15 years, most recently at Riverside Regional Medical Center.

She is survived by three children and two stepchildren, ShaKwan Ball, Karon Ball, Jonaisa Ball, Jonathan Towles and Jontae Towles; mother, Ruth Rich; father, Irvin Ball Jr.; sisters, Lakia Cater, Tinika Ball, Shawnell Morris, Shemeke Ball and Amya Ball; two brothers, Troy Ball and Deionte Ball; grandmother, Mary Ball; and former husband and friend, John Towles.

A funeral was held at 11 a.m. April 10 at the White Stone Church of the Nazarene. Interment followed in the New St. John’s Baptist Church Cemetery, Kilmarnock.
