Jerry M. Thomas

GREENSBORO, N.C.—Jerry M. Thomas, 80, died suddenly July 21, 2018, in Greensboro, N.C., where he had lived all his life.

Jerry was the cherished brother of Jan Mumma of Merry Point, who was devoted to his welfare and care. He visited the Mummas in Merry Point many times over the years and was well known to all their friends.

Mr. Thomas was a quiet, unassuming, gentle and thoughtful man who loved sports, television, railroads and postage stamps. Due to dyslexia, he was unable to complete his education but lived bravely alone and independently in his own home most of his life.

He had the help of two very special people when he visited in Drum Point – Kim Henderson and Bessie Jones.

Mr. Thomas was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro. He was much loved by his sister and her husband, the late Jerry Mumma. There were no other immediate survivors.

The funeral took place in Greensboro on July 25 and burial was in the old Holland family plot in Green Hill Cemetery there.
