YMCA counselors prepare for a safe and fun summer

On June 1, the Northern Neck Family YMCA conducted a full day of training to prepare its staff for its upcoming summer camp.

To ensure that each participating child can safely grow in spirit, mind and body, as well as have fun, the counselors attended sessions covering child abuse prevention, STEM, character values/belonging; implementing curriculum; how to lead a game; working with special needs and behavior management; transitions; camp songs; and the art of communication with parents and campers.

Summer camp starts Monday, June 17, and will continue…
