Charles H. Croxton

LOCUST HILL—Charles Henry Croxton died July 7, 2019. He was a longtime resident of Dockside Health Center in Locust Hill.

Charles was born January 22, 1944, to the late Mary Croxton Cox in Baltimore, Md. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, the late John C. Cox. He was educated in the public schools of Baltimore.

Charles worked in the seafood industry for most of his life. He worked at Rappahannock Crab House in Bluff Point and other oyster and fish houses in the Northern Neck.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Veney Croxton; a daughter, Judith Croxton Scruggs; a son, Charles Croxton Jr.

He is survived by his children, Catherine Croxton and Tyrone Croxton; eight grandchildren, Leonardo Croxton, Jamiesha Scruggs, Toneisha Scrugs, Omar Scruggs, Nathaniel Croxton, Raymond Croxton, Chaneil Croston and Ciara Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Javan Coxton and Khalil Croxton; and a sister, Eunice Harris.

A funeral was held Saturday, July 13, at Campbell Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, with The Rev. John Jones, pastor of Zion Branch, Saluda, officiating. Interment followed in the Grimes-Cox Cemetery, Kilmarnock.
