Two NHS freshmen dancing their way to Rome

Northumberland High School freshmen Abby Jennings and Corrie Minor will perform in Rome, Italy, on New Year’s Day.

The two girls are among over 300 high school dancers, cheerleaders and drum majors from across the U.S. chosen to perform in the historic city on January 1, 2020, according to Mike Fultz, international event coordinator with Varsity Spirit.

The group of performers invited to the Rome celebration are part of the All-American program, selected from Universal Dance Association (UDA), National Dance Alliance (NDA) and United Spirit Association (USA) summer camps held across the country. All-Americans are chosen based on their athletic and leadership skills, said Fultz. The top 12% of athletes who attend the camp earn the chance to perform in the holiday spectacular.

Abby, 14, is the daughter of Larry and Michele Jennings of Reedville and Corrie, 15, is the daughter of Kelly Lewis and Steve Minor, also of Reedville. The two perform with the Indian Spirits Dance Team and were selected…
