Town elections postponed two weeks; keep on voting by mail

LANCASTER—The General Assembly last week rejected Gov. Ralph Northam’s proposal to move all May 5 local elections to November 3.

However, Gov. Northam on April 24 issued an executive order to postpone the voting date to May 19.

Voter registrar Susan P. Jett continues to encourage registered voters in Irvington, Kilmarnock and White Stone to keep voting absentee by mail.

“That’s the safest and most convenient,” said Jett.

Those who have been mailed an application and ballot are urged to complete the process and mail the ballots…
