Alice Sisson named DAR Good Citizen

Because of the virus quarantine, Michele Tucker, regent of the Cobbs Hall Chapter of the DAR, was unable to make the DAR Good Citizen Award in person to the worthy recipient, Alice Sisson, a senior at Northumberland High School.

Tucker made a virtual presentation to Sisson after all the ground work and recommendation was presented to her by the DAR Good Citizen chairman Joan Carlson.

“We believe that you exemplify the qualities of a DAR Good Citizen, which are dependability, service, leadership and patriotism,” said Tucker. “DAR is a service organization and we could not be prouder of the service you have performed in the area of national and foreign missions. Your leadership abilities and your activities as a role model are highlighted by your patriotism which is apparent through your unselfish interests in your family, your school, your nation and the world.”

Sisson submitted an essay, “Energizing America’s Youth to Fully Engage as Effective Citizens” where among her many salient points and suggestions to accomplish this objective, she wrote, “Making the youth effective citizens should be one of the largest goals of our society.”
