KILMARNOCK—At a special called meeting on Monday, June 8, the first face-to-face meeting of the school board since the closures related to COVID-19 in March, the Lancaster School Board heard from Welby Saunders, chairman of the facilities committee, about plans to convert Lancaster Middle School into a K-6 school.
While members of the public were in attendance at the Lancaster Middle School Theater, there was no public comment on the proposed plan.
“Lancaster Primary School is at the end of its useful life,” Saunders said.
According to director of operations and transportation John Mann, LPS was built in 1959 and the middle school was opened in 1994 after significant renovations to an existing high school. Lancaster High School was built in 1973.
